Police searching for ex-husband of 31-year-old mother shot, killed inside Gwinnett Co. home

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A 35-year-old Norcross man is being sought by authorities after a 31-year-old woman was found shot inside a Gwinnett County home.

Victor Jose Yaraure Morillo, 35 of Norcross, is wanted on charges of malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felon in the killing of 31-year-old Jackmerly Jouselis Hernandez-Rodriguez, of Norcross.

According to Gwinnett County police, officers were called to a “person shot” call at a home on Creeldale Drive in unincorporated Norcross.

When officers arrived, they found Hernandez-Rodriguez suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said the victim and Morillo were divorced and living at the home.

After the shooting, Morillo drove away in a 2016 black Toyota Corolla. He is described as four feet and 11 inches tall and weighs 110 pounds.

His current whereabouts are unknown. The black Toyota Corolla is missing a passenger-side hubcap, and the temporary license plate is S2110371.

Rodriguez celebrated her 31st birthday earlier this month. She had a 10-year-old son. She moved to Gwinnett County from Venezuela less than a year ago. Her family members received a call just after 7 p.m. on Saturday that something was wrong at her house.

Rosa, a family friend who did not want to share her last name out of fear of retaliation, spoke with Channel 2.

“The little boy suffering, this is kind of difficult for us,” Rosa said. “I’m a woman. It could happen to me. It could happen to you. It could happen to somebody else.”
