Mother defends son accused in attack over marijuana

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Several Gwinnett County high school students are accused of attacking a classmate over marijuana.

Marcko Baity, 17, is in the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of armed robbery and marijuana possession.

Police said that on Labor Day, Baity’s teammate Colin “CJ” Burress and two other teenagers, attacked a classmate over less than a half-ounce of marijuana.

Baity’s mother told Channel 2 Action News her son was not involved in the crime. She said he was simply at the wrong place and the wrong time.

She added that he was not involved in the assault and only drove the car.

Baity is on the Lanier High School football team.
