GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in Gwinnett County captured a man on Wednesday who police say threatened to kill his mother and any responding officers.

NewsChopper 2 flew above the scene Tuesday afternoon as officers and K-9s walked through a creek and searched the woods near Waverly Cove and Vintage Lane in Buford for 24-year-old Dustin York. %

“We’ve had multiple sightings of Mr. York in the Buford area,” Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute around 9:30 p.m. Monday at a home in the Pebble Creek subdivision of Buford.

York’s mother told officers that her son had threatened to kill her. She also said she thought he had been under the influence of drugs for several days.

“We don’t believe he is armed, however, he is extremely violent,” Pihera said. “He is capable of producing a lot of harm towards the people he knows or may even not know.”

Channel 2’s Tony Thomas has learned York has been arrested at least a dozen times in Gwinnett County.

For a while, Buford City Schools were on lockdown as police worried York may have been in the area of the schools.

After several hours of searching for York, the search was called off and the lockdown was lifted.

York is currently in transport to the Gwinnett County Jail.
