Officers said two victims -- one in his late teens, the other in his mid-20s -- were found dead at the scene. A young woman was able to get away after she was shot.

The woman went to a neighbor’s apartment to call for help.

The apartment has a gate and swing arm for security. Police are trying to determine how the shooter got into the complex and if there was a connection to the complex.

“Sometimes people can piggyback other vehicles that come through or may have visited some other time and have code from (a) previous tenant. There are a plethora of ideas, but we don’t have anything definite on how they got in,” said Cpl. Wilbert Rundles, of the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Investigators told Gehlbach they are working on identifying and notifying the victims' family.

Police said the victims were visiting a family member who lives in the complex.
