BUFORD, Ga. — Police say an argument between two men ended up with one of them shooting and killing the other outside a Buford restaurant.
Crime scene investigators continued to work the crime scene hours after the shooting in the heart of downtown Buford, near the intersection of South Lee and West Moreno streets.
Relatives of Allan Willard Jr., 25, told Channel 2 Gwinnett County bureau reporter Tony Thomas that he was an Army National Guard member who served in Afghanistan.
“I was like his other little sister,” cousin Megan Cross said.
Detectives are still working to determine what sparked the argument between the men. Police have charged Jerome Colvin with felony murder and aggravated assault.
“The suspect and the victim were there eating together. They didn't have any altercation inside. It all happened outside of the restaurant,” Cpl. Wilbert Rundles, with the Gwinnett County Police Department, said.
NewsChopper 2 arrived at the scene moments after the shooting and showed there were actually two crime scenes police were investigating: one where Willard was shot and fell onto the middle of Lee Street and a second location about three blocks away.

The second location is where police say they found Colvin trying to run away.
Thomas arrived at that scene just as the suspect was being taken away Tuesday afternoon to be questioned by detectives.
“What led to the actual dispute and altercation we are still trying to put together,” Rundles said.
Police say they two men knew each other and worked at the same company.
“We are just praying and hoping God can take control of this situation and we are just waiting for the rest of our family to get here,” Cross said.
