Police make arrest after man shot, killed near popular dog park

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Update Saturday Morning:

Gwinnett Police say they’ve arrested 70-year old Stanley Elliot after speaking with him Friday night. They’ve charged Elliot with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During a Felony.

Elliot is being held at the Gwinnett County jail.

From Friday Afternoon:

Investigators in Gwinnett County have released surveillance video of a man they is a person of interest in the killing another man on Thursday.

Police were called out to Riverside Parkway near McKendree Elementary School where they found the body of Anthony Collins, 44, of Lawrenceville.

Investigators told Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Tony Thomas that Collins was out walking near a popular dog park when he was killed.

Detectives said Collins was found laying near his car with a gunshot wound.

Detectives are now looking for a man they say is known to walk in that area and said he often carries a big stick or pole.

The man is described as having a skinny build and is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Officers told Thomas they believe that attack may be random and worry the person who killed Collins is still in the area.

Police gave Thomas Ring surveillance video of the person of interest they are looking for.
