GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The hunt is on for a man who police say robbed and sexually assaulted a woman at a local motel.

It happened at the Microtel on North Norcross Tucker Road in Norcross on Jan. 24.

Police said hours before the attack happened, the man was caught on camera at another hotel just across the street. Norcross police said video shows the man walking into the Country Inn and Suites on Jan. 24 around 7:45 a.m.

Police believe he may have been scoping out that hotel.

Hours later, the man is seen walking across the street to the Microtel, where he assaulted a woman and then robbed her.

"It's concerning how he moves from hotel to hotel," said Staci Smith, who works nearby.

Police now have a warning for other hotel guests in the area, while those who work nearby remain on guard.

"We're very cautious around here, but I didn't know something that serious would happen," Smith said.

"Right now, if you come across anybody that you don't know or recognize, whether you're a guest or you work at the hotel, call the police," said Sgt. Eric Butynski.

Police said the man spoke in a French or Haitian accent and told the victim his name is AK. The victim noticed he was wearing an ankle monitor. He was last seen driving away in a newer-model black Hyundai.
