Cook played football at Arabia Mountain High School and had was in the process of visiting schools to play in college.

Thornton played baseball at Chamblee Charter High.

Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera called the shooting “deeply disturbing.”

“This is a deeply disturbing case involving four young men who were at the beginning of their adult lives. There is no peaceful resolution to the conclusion of this criminal investigation," she said. "On one side, you have a family grieving the loss of a 19-year-old.  And, at the other end are three families trying to understand how their teen could be involved in such a crime. A young person lost his life while the other three are facing a lifetime of imprisonment for one very serious criminal act.”

Thornton and Cook were not given bond and will be back before a judge at the end of the month.
