GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County police say a mother and her teenage daughter were arrested after the mother repeatedly assaulted a Department of Family and Children’s Services worker during a court-mandated visitation.
The incident happened Saturday at a trampoline park at Sugar Loaf Mills Mall in Duluth. Police say the mother, Starlita Moore went there to see her two children, ages 5 and 8, who were in DFACS custody because of Moore’s previous multiple encounters with law enforcement.
“During the court-mandated visitation, there was an argument between the DFCS employee and Ms. Moore, which resulted in Ms. Moore striking the DFCS employee, then grabbing the two children and try to escort the children out, as another female there tried to stop her from taking the kids,” Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Colin Flynn told Channel 2′s Tom Regan.

Flynn said Moore’s 19-year-old daughter, Teisha Schulters, participated in the kidnapping plot.
“The DFCS employee followed them out to the parking lot. She again tried to stop her from taking the two children, and that’s when they attacked the DFCS employee again in the parking lot and that’s where she received multiple injuries to her face,” said Sgt. Flynn.
Police say Moore and her older daughter loaded the children into a car and took off. They were stopped after driving out of Georgia.

“The Alabama State Patrol was able to pull the vehicle over and get the children back unharmed.
Both Moore and her 19-year-old daughter are charged with kidnapping. Moore faces additional charges of battery and cruelty to children.
They remain in the Gwinnett County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
