HALL COUNTY, Ga. — The body of a DeKalb County firefighters was found in Lake Lanier. The Hall County Sheriff's Office says the man has been missing since the evening of April 27.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office reports Jason Blalock, 37, never showed up for his shift as a firefighter in Dekalb County. His supervisor called the Sheriff's Office to investigate the last place Blalock was seen.
Blalock was last seen attending a party in the area of Sunset Cove at Lake Lanier on April 23. The Sheriff's Office says at some point Blalock lost touch with his friends. Deputies found his car still parked at the Sunset Cove location.
DeKalb County Fire Rescue released the following statement:
"We are deeply saddened by the news of the loss of one of our own, Firefighter (FAO) Jason Blalock. His untimely death has affected us all. He was an eleven year veteran of the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department and proudly served at one of the busiest, Fire Stations 24. We offer our condolences to the Blalock family and stand with them as they morn their loss".
Deputies are continuing to investigate the incident.
