ATLANTA — There is a risk for isolated severe storms this afternoon and evening, including a chance of a brief tornado.
Here’s what to know:
- Tornado Watch in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday
- Chance of severe storms Tuesday evening in west and northwest Georgia
- Flash Flood Watch in effect for parts of metro Atlanta until 8 p.m.Thursday.
- Chance for rain goes down Thursday and Friday
The overall risk for a tornado is low, but the area that is in the greatest risk of a severe storm is northwest Georgia.
We’re tracking the timing of when heavier rain will arrive in north Georgia throughout the afternoon and evening on Channel 2 Action News.
A tornado watch was issued Wednesday afternoon for much of west and northwest Georgia. The watch lasts until 11 p.m.

More than 2-and-a-half inches of rain has fallen at the Atlanta airport so far this week, which is almost what we get on average for the entire month of October.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday.
Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said that we’ll begin to dry out tomorrow.
