CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta community is celebrating the homecoming of an injured police officer who spent months in the hospital and rehabilitation center.
Carrollton Sergeant Rob Holloway was released from the Shepherd Center around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning and made his way home to his family and friends.

Holloway was seriously injured when he was shot in the head in April during a car chase with two suspects. Three other officers were injured during the chase: Villa Rica officer Chase Gordy and Carroll County Deputy Jay Repetto.
One of the suspects was killed and another was arrested.
The Carrollton police department encouraged supporters to come out to the Adamson Square to welcome Holloway home.
Dozens of police cars formed a procession from Atlanta to Carroll County.

Hundreds of people were seen lining the area as Holloway came home. Many were cheering and waving American flags as the convoy passed through.
“I’m here because I love Rob. He first started working with the sheriff’s department about 12, 13 years ago, whenever he started in law enforcement... I remember training that kid when he first started. He’s always been a part in my heart,” a woman said.
There were also signs that read, “Thank You Hometown Heroes.”
