NewsChopper 2 was over the scene, where there were several officers and crime scene tape strung up across one building. A large area of the woods was also taped off.
“We do have a significant wood line area around it where people may have traveled before or after the incident,” police said.
Jones also watched officers bringing bags of evidence out of the teen’s apartment.
Police did not release the victim’s identity. It’s unclear if police have identified any potential suspects. There were two other people inside the apartment at the time of the murder, police said.
The murder has also left those who live nearby shaken up.
“I’m just uneasy,” said a 17-year-old girl who didn’t want her full name used. She lives in the building next to where the teen was killed. She says she broke down when she heard what happened.
“It’s just really scary. It’s close to my age,” she said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.
Police said they are hoping the medical examiner’s examination will reveal the teen’s cause of death.
