ATLANTA — Residents across north Georgia woke up to trees that were knocked down during overnight storms Sunday.
According to Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz, temperatures were in the 40s early Sunday morning.
The rainfall also caused trees to fall, along with power lines, causing power outages as reported on WSB Tonight at 11 p.m.
Wind gusts persisted throughout the day on Saturday as they reached as high as 47 mph in Atlanta. While the metro Atlanta area received rainfall without the wintery mix, strong winds, combined with saturated soil could cause more trees to fall, according to Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, cold air moved across the north Georgia mountains which allowed the rain to transition over into a few snow showers.
Hundreds of residents across metro Atlanta experienced power outages with down trees and power lines.
