HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A Henry County mother is desperate for answers after she says her six-month-old baby suffered second-degree burns at daycare.
Fay Menard says it happened on Jan. 24 at the Childcare Network in McDonough. She remembers picking up her daughter when a female employee asked about a rash.

Channel 2′s Justin Carter spoke with Menard on WSB Tonight at 11 p.m.
“She said Ayva had a diaper rash, and I said, are you sure it’s a rash,” Menard recalls. “I said it might be her eczema because she gets dry skin every now and then.”
Menard says she noticed Ayva’s diaper was wet, so she changed her on the spot.
“By her private area is pink raw flesh,” Menard said. “I started crying, and I said this is not how I brought her in.”
She says she stormed out and alerted the assistant manager about the wound. She says the manager then played back the surveillance video.
“She was facing the counter,” Menard recalls from the video. “When she turns back around, she has wet wipes or napkins in her hand. She lifts Ayva’s leg, places it there, and holds it there. As she holds it there, Ayva’s arms go from laying on her side to shooting outward.”
Menard took her to the emergency room, where doctors wrote in the paperwork that it appeared to be second-degree burns with raw dry dermis on the right buttock.
She took matters to the Henry County Police Department, and they are investigating.
Carter spoke to the assistant manager, who denied being aware of the situation.
“I don’t know, I’m not familiar with it,” said Shonda, the manager.

Channel 2 Action News reviewed an assessment completed by CPS where investigators say they substantiated claims of inadequate supervision against the employee in question.
We’re told the case was then escalated to Henry County Police where a detective has been assigned.
