Henry County high school employee charged with child molestation after ‘inappropriate behavior’

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — An employee at Luella High School in Henry County is being held in the Henry County Jail on charges of child molestation and more.

According to jail records, Joshuah Maso Pittman was arrested on Jan. 9 and is charged with child molestation, sexual battery, statutory rape, sexual exploitation and more. Jail records show he is being held without bond.

A spokesperson for the Henry County School District shared a copy of a letter sent to Luella High School parents with Channel 2 Action News confirming that Pittman is employed at the school and has been placed on administrative leave.

They say he no longer has contact with any students.

This message is to inform you that an employee at Luella High School was arrested following allegations of inappropriate behavior involving a student. Immediately upon these allegations being reported, this individual was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of internal and law enforcement investigations and no longer has any contact with students.

Maintaining a safe and secure learning environment is our utmost priority, and that can be accomplished in many ways by people speaking up when they hear or see something. We will have crisis response teams consisting of counselors and social workers available to support any students or staff members who need to speak with someone.
