Henry County Commission candidate charged in death of child

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Henry County police arrested a candidate for the Henry County Commission and her husband for the death of their 2-year-old foster child.

Laila Marie Daniel was just two years old when she died at the Rosenbaum house last month in Henry County.

According to jail records, Jennifer Rosenbaum, 27, and her husband Joseph Rosenbaum, 26, were booked into the Henry County Jail Friday night.

The initial 911 call was for choking a child at the suspect's home on Lincoln Terrace in McDonough.

Jennifer Rosenbaum, a candidate for the Henry County Commission, is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and three counts of cruelty to children.

Joseph Rosenbaum, is charged with two counts of child cruelty.

Laila's biological father told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes, "Laila was an awesome child. Always smiling and happy, and I was in disbelief that someone would hurt my sweet innocent baby."

A neighbor of the Rosenbaums said she saw Laila with bruises on her face in August. The neighbor says Jennifer Rosenbaum told her the injuries came from falling down the stairs.

Laila's cause of death has yet to be announced.

The Rosenbaums are both expected to be in court Monday.

No bond was listed for either suspect.
