I-75 reopens in Henry County after tanker truck catches fire

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Interstate 75 has reopened in both directions in Henry County hours after a tanker truck caught fire on Wednesday evening.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety says the busy interstate was shut down near the Bethlehem Road overpass.

Police say the fire burned directly underneath the Bethlehem Bridge.

Butts County officials shared an update from Henry County Emergency Management, who put out “an urgent alert” after an accident involving the bridge.

“Interstate 75 will be closed until further notice, please take an alternate route,” officials wrote.

Just after 11:30 p.m., Triple Team Traffic reported that all lanes have reopened.

Georgia Department of Transportation cameras in the area show firefighters working to clear the area.

There’s no word when the interstate will reopen.
