Man who ran after chase may be armed, police say

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Police are looking for the driver who ran from his car after a police chase.

The man could be armed, according to police.

Police tell Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach the chase started when a Henry County deputy tried to pull over the driver for speeding on I-75 N. When the car got off at Hwy 20, the driver went into an apartment complex, but when the deputy got out of his patrol car, the driver took off.

The chase continued on I-75 N and Georgia State Patrol picked up the chase in south Fulton County and quickly did a PIT maneuver and spun the car out safely right before the Cleveland Avenue exit.

There were no injuries to the three passengers inside, but the driver ran and police are still looking for him.

One of the passengers said they thought the driver had a gun on him.

Police are working to ID the driver and are talking with passengers as this story develops.
