HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Henry County firefighters are reminding the community to keep your door closed when you go to sleep, because it could be a matter of life and death.
Video taken in the aftermath of a fire earlier this week shows just how big of a difference keeping the door closed can make during a fire.
The video shows the remnants of a house after being destroyed by a major fire.
After going through a closed door, the video shows a bedroom untouched by the fire.

Fire officials say that because of building materials, furniture and synthetic materials, fire can spread faster than ever before. They say closing the doors helps stop the spread of the fire.
Even if the closed door only slows down the fire, it can give you a crucial few extra moments to get out of the house.
