We all know that today, Georgia will become one of only 14 states in the path of the rare and highly-anticipated total solar eclipse.

The celestial event of the century kicked off in Georgia just after 1 p.m., but the eclipse will hit its peak, or maximum, just after 2:30 p.m. depending on where in the state you live.

Just after 1 p.m., the moon's shadow began to cover the sun's rays, but for a few minutes after 2:30 p.m., depending on where you are, the eclipse will be at its peak, or maximum.
