ATLANTA — Hosea Helps isn’t letting a global pandemic stop them from helping thousands this Christmas.
Workers will still feed thousands of families and hand out presents.
It’s the 50th anniversary for Hosea Helps and this year the entire event is outside in drive-thru format to keep everyone safe.
Volunteers are making sure every car gets food and toys.
Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway learned that 600 families who registered for the toy drive are getting presents for Christmas Eve.
“It’s a miracle for me because I wasn’t able to fully take care of all my grandchildren with the covid and being laid off, so I’m so grateful and thankful to everyone involved,” said Rhonda Moore.
It’s a Christmas miracle for Moore and hundreds of families in metro Atlanta. They are all going home with food and presents this Christmas, thanks to Hosea Helps food and toy-drive.
Moore has five grandchildren and one on the way. She said after being laid off during the pandemic, she was worried about being Santa for her grandchildren this year.

“This is something I can give them, because I didn’t think it would be anything, I could give them and now I can give them something,” Moore said.
Dozens of cars showed up at the Georgia World Congress Center while volunteers loaded their trunks with bags and boxes of food.
“I really, really need this because last time when we got our stimulus checks, I was so far behind on bills I had to use that whole check to get caught up,” said Renee Miller.
Miller said she’s happy the event was still a go, even in a pandemic and in the pouring rain.
“I think it’s safe doing like this, there’s too many of us mothers with children and I’ve seen so many people get sick, I just feel for the children’s safety more than anything,” Miller said.
Hundreds of families in need all getting toys on Christmas Eve; that means a lot of happy kids on Christmas morning.
