Hurricane Helene: Channel 2 activates ‘Convoy of Care’ to help survivors in Georgia

ATLANTA — WSB-TV Channel 2 is once again partnering with law enforcement, the nonprofit organization Caring for Others, the Georgia Motor Trucking Association, and other community partners to activate Convoy of Care.

This major disaster relief project will bring much needed supplies to communities in Valdosta and Augusta, GA. It will also help other communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Convoy of Care will collect cleaning supplies and tools, trash bags, paper towels and personal hygiene kits. Donations will be accepted starting Tues. Oct. 1st at WSB-TV studios at 1601 W. Peachtree Street in midtown Atlanta from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

These five additional locations will join WSB-TV in accepting donations on Wednesday, October 2nd from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

“Hurricane Helene ravaged our state and the need for relief supplies is critical,” said WSB-TV Director of Community and Public Affairs Condace Pressley. “These communities need our help, and we know the people of metro Atlanta will respond.”

“For more than a decade, the Convoy of Care team has activated for communities in need,” said Clarence Cox, Former President of NOBLE, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives. “After Hurricane Helene hammered Georgia, we are ready to serve.”

The Convoy of Care will deliver an initial truckload of relief supplies to Valdosta, GA on Thursday, October 3, 2024, where impacted residents may pick up much needed items.

The Georgia Motor Trucking Association and law enforcement organizations including the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) and the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP), Georgia Coach Lines, Stewart Miller Simmons Trial Attorneys, and others, have pledged their networks to recruit volunteers to deliver and distribute donations.
