Illness temporarily shuts down Cobb County Animal Shelter

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Cobb County Animal Shelter has closed until further notice. The announcement came Friday.

An illness was discovered among the shelter population. The staff veterinarian said laboratory tests are being done at the University of Georgia to identify the problem.

All adoptions, visitations and nonemergency surgeries are on hold at this time.

It’s not clear how many animals have been infected or what symptoms they are experiencing.
