If your birthday falls within the next three months, you may not receive your annual vehicle registration renewal bill in your mailbox.
The Georgia Department of Revenue says a vendor issue caused problems with the pre-bills and many people with October birthdays did not receive theirs.
They say the bills for people with November and December birthdays may also be delayed as they obtain a new vendor to produce and mail the pre-bills.
Vehicle tags expire at midnight on the birth date of the owner listed first on the registration. The renewal period begins 30 days before the registered owner's birthday.
“Failure to receive a renewal application does not relieve you of the obligation of registering your vehicle by the designated deadline,” the agency said in a statement.
There is a penalty of 10 percent of the ad valorem tax for late payments and a 25 percent penalty on the tag fee.
Any vehicle owner whose vehicle tag is due in October should log on to the Department of Revenue website to renew the registration online. Click on "Obtain\Retrieve a RIN," with that you can make a payment.
