ATLANTA — Family members of legendary singer Whitney Houston are planning another funeral since the passing of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The late singer's daughter died Sunday night.
An initial autopsy done by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office found no obvious cause of death for the 22-year-old.
Channel 2's Dave Huddleston learned Monday that the complete and final report could take weeks because of the six months from the initial call Jan. 31 and her death Sunday.
Huddleston talked with Entertainment Tonight reporter Kevin Frazier about Bobbi Kristina's final moments inside the Gwinnett County hospice facility.
"They began to pray. Pat (Houston) actually began to read from the 23rd Psalm and as everyone in the room said hallelujah, Krissi took her final breath," Frazier said.
Frazier has been in constant contact with the family since Bobbi Kristina's death Sunday.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office says this will be a difficult and lengthy investigation into Brown's death because of the six months between the initial report and time of death.
"If it's a long hospital stay there's a whole host of medical records that you have to go through," said Patrick Bailey, interim director of the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office.
Bailey says he's not working on the case, but with close to two-decades of investigations he says in cases like Bobbi Kristina's, the medical examiner will look at the initial report, Brown's medical records and her autopsy to find out how Brown ended up in that bathtub.
"You don't weigh one versus the other. You have to put them all together to draw a conclusion of matter of death," Bailey said.
While the investigation continues, the family is planning a funeral.
"What we're hearing is the funeral will be Thursday, and the family source told me it will be kind of a celebration that Krissi never really had. She didn't have a Sweet 16 party. She never got to go to prom," Frazier said.
Huddleston contacted the Fulton County District Attorney's Office and they say the case into Brown's death remains open and under investigation.
In a lawsuit filed last month, it claims Nick Gordon, Brown's boyfriend, physically abused Brown, "including punching her in the face, knocking out a front tooth, and dragging her upstairs by her hair."
"Brown had confided to someone that (Gordon) was not the man she thought he was," the suit said.
The suit says Brown was supposed to meet with that person the same day she was found face down in a bathtub inside her Roswell home.
For months Gordon had pleaded with the Brown family to let him see Bobbi Kristina, but the family has continually refused.
Michele Gordon, Nick's mother, released a statement Monday saying:
"The passing of Bobbi Kristina is devastating to Nick and our family. Nick loved and cared for Krissi deeply, and he has suffered greatly each and every day they've been apart. Nick and our family are in mourning, and we ask that you respect our privacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with both the Houstons and the Browns during this difficult time."
