POLK COUNTY, Ga. — A woman is facing multiple charges after authorities said they found drugs and a gun in her car on school property.

Rockmart police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that Georgia Lynn Cook was arrested Saturday night at Van Wert Elementary School.

Authorities said a drug dog alerted them to her car, where they said they found meth, marijuana and a gun.

"If she has a permit (to carry), it's a misdemeanor (to have a gun on school property). If not, it's a felony," said Polk County Police Chief Kenneth Dodd.

In addition, investigators said they found possible drug residue inside the school.

Authorities said Cook is a custodian for the school but is an employee of Sullins Cleaning Company. She does not work for Polk County Schools.

"She put my 4-year-old daughter in danger," said Lindsey Jones.

Jones, like many parents, told Channel 2 Action News that she was alarmed by the arrest of the school custodian.

"This is just crazy," said Sonya Perkins, another parent.
