Jimmy, Rosalynn Carter back at church after receiving COVID-19 vaccines

PLAINS, Ga. — Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter received both of their COVID-19 vaccines and can now return to one of their favorite places: church.

The former president, 96, and first lady, 93, attended services in-person at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains for the first time in months.

The church posted the announcement on its Facebook page Wednesday. Pastor Tony Lowden said the couple has been at church the past two Sundays.

While the couple is back at church, Jimmy Carter has not resumed his Sunday School classes, which his niece Kim Fuller took over last year.

Carter had taught Sunday school at Maranatha Baptist Church since leaving the White House in 1981, and he and his wife, Rosalynn, often pose for photos with visitors after the 11 a.m. worship service.
