PLAINS — Former President Jimmy Carter and wife Rosalynn made a rare appearance this week in Plains.
The Carters were there to celebrate the renovation of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Unit.
The event happened Wednesday at 401 Waymon Street in Plains.
The former president and first lady were all smiles as they welcomed a $50,000 grant from Lowe’s and support from local partners, the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Unit received updates throughout the entire Club.
The organization was able to create a TechZone/Computer Lab, install new flooring and furniture, installed two brand-new HVAC systems and water heater and all new paint.

“Studies show a clean space inspires a clean and orderly mind. For the youth who attend the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Club daily, an environment where they can feel safe and supported without distraction is critical to achieve their full potential,” the organization said.
This is all part of a $1.5 million donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2019, Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany is one of 30 Boys & Girls Clubs selected to receive a grant from Lowe’s to make critical renovations.
