ATLANTA — There was a special honor for our colleague and friend Jovita Moore.

Her daughter, Shelby, accepted the “Spirit of Philanthropy Award” on Jovita’s behalf on Tuesday. The award came from singer Usher’s “New Look Women of Influence.”

Jovita was a mentor in the program, inspiring young women on their career paths.

“Jovita was a bright spirit, beautiful inside and out and most importantly a giving spirit that impacted so many lives,” Usher Raymond said.

The event is held each year to uplift women in the community and inspire young women in the organization’s collegiate program.

Jovita attended the event the last time it was held in person.

The organization says she played a pivotal role in the lives of several of the students.
