ATLANTA — Heavy rains packed a punch across much of a metro Atlanta Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.
Severe Weather Team 2 spread out across the area on Wednesday where people were dealing with flooded roads, cars and even homes.
Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach was at Peachtree Creek, which crested above 18 feet on Wednesday morning.

The flooding left nearby Woodward Way impassable with at least one car getting stuck in the waters.
The creek ran under Northside Drive, but put the path and nearly all of Atlanta Memorial Park underwater and created some new water hazards on Bobby Jones Golf Course.
The flood waters started receding early Wednesday afternoon.
In Cobb County, Channel 2′s Michele Newell found Powder Springs Park and Noonday Park were flooded and closed.
Kenneth Ricketts told Newell that he is thankful his apartment complex, Midwood Creek Apartments, has more than one exit since one is completely blocked.
“Last night, when I got up and I looked, it was just raining. But when I got up this morning, I said, ‘Let me go look and see,’ and this is it,” he explained.

Newell also found several trees and power lines that had been knocked down during the storms.
In Forsyth County, Channel 2′s Bryan Mims spoke with a homeowner who said the pouring rains left his house flooded.
“It really came in hard, flooding the creek. The creek rose up a good 15 feet or so. And it just crested the hill here, flooded the house, flooded over the road,” Mike Case said.
Case said the water sloshed into his basement and recreation room where he keeps a collection of model ships, which did weather the storm.
“I’ve seen this flood before, but never anywhere near this bad. It always stops just at the top of that hill. It crests and goes over the road, and that kind of controls it, but this time it was just too much water,” he said.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office listed half a dozen roads that were closed because of flooding. While some of the water has receded, some of the roads remained closed.
