Kennesaw State quarterback dead after car found riddled with bullets

PENSACOLA, Fl. — A Kennesaw State football player is dead following a shooting in Florida.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida said it was called out to a shooting just after 1:00 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Fairfield Drive and Hollywood Avenue.

When they got to the scene, investigators said they found two men, ages 18 and 19, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Their car was riddled with as many as 50 rounds, according to information released from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Ladarius Clardy, 18, of Pensacola, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries.

Clardy is listed as the quarterback for the Kennesaw State University football team, according to the university’s website.

So far, police have not released a description of any suspects involved or a motive behind the shootings.

KSU Athletics released a statement saying, in part:

“We are devastated and heartbroken over the death of Ladarius Clardy. Ladarius was an excellent teammate and left a mark on this program with his positive attitude. He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ladarius’ family at this difficult time.”
