LAMAR COUNTY, Ga. — The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office said one of its deputies was shot in the line of duty responding Saturday night
Deputy Justyn Weaver responded to a suspicious person call off Moore Street in Milner. The sheriff’s office said someone ambushed Weaver’s car and fired numerous shots at his car.
Weaver suffered injuries to his face and left arm and was taken to an Atlanta hospital. The suspect took off in a white truck, but was later arrested on Interstate 20 by the St. Clair’s County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama.
Lamar County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 38-year-old Donald Gordy of Barnesville. A warrant on aggravated assault charges has been issued for Gordy.
