Law enforcement community rallies behind Georgia deputy ejected from car during crash

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — A Coweta County deputy has a long road to recovery after a life-altering car crash.

Dept. Braelyn Dozier was driving his Coweta County patrol car north on I-85 around 5:30 a.m., on Apr. 6 when he went off the road and into the median. The car then went back on the road and flipped several times before coming to a stop.

Officials said Dozier was ejected from the car.

He was taken to the hospital. Deputies have not released his condition but said that he sustained multiple injuries.

A tractor-trailer that slowed down as it approached the crash was hit from behind by a 2012 Toyota Corolla.

Dozier and the driver of the Toyota Corolla were airlifted to Midtown Medical Center.

Officials did not provide an update on the driver of the Toyota Corolla.

To help ease the burden, Dozier’s law enforcement family has created a fundraiser to help him during this difficult time.

“Our hope is to show Deputy Dozier that he has a large support system,” the organization’s website said.
