Channel 2′s Richard Elliot was the first reporter at the scene, where he found the barbershop windows pierced with bullet holes and shattered. The victim’s body was still on the ground outside of the store.
A witness told Elliot that he heard at least 15 shots. The construction worker said he was sitting in his pickup truck when the shooting happened. He said he knew immediately it was time to duck and take cover. He asked not to be identified.
“I heard about 15 rounds. It was a whole clip,” he said. “It sounded like a 9mm.”
No one has been arrested, but police said the shooting does not appear to have been random. The victim has not been identified.
As police investigated, friends and family of the victim gathered at the shop and were overcome with emotion.
