GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A man is now in custody more than nine months after police say he shot and killed a Texas rapper on Interstate 85.
Police and U.S. Marshals arrested James Thomas at the Atlanta airport as he was exiting an airplane.
Thomas was wanted by Gwinnett County Police Department in the death of Corey Detiege.
Police said around 3 a.m. on March 5 someone pulled up next to Detiege’s car and opened fire on I-85 near Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Detiege, 33, died at the hospital.

Detiege was a rapper known as Chucky Trill from Houston and had just arrived in Atlanta the day before his death. His manager said he was in town for NBA All-Star Game.
Thomas faces charges of malice murder and four counts of aggravated assault. He was taken from Hartsfield-Jackson airport to the Gwinnett County Jail, where he is held without bond.
The March 5 shooting is just one of dozens that have happened on metro Atlanta interstates this year alone.
