The man accused of running over and killing a man with special needs is now in custody.

Channel 2's Tom Jones learned Joshua Anderson made it all the way to New York before he was arrested. Anderson was wanted for killing 20-year-old Kevin Marshall on the Fourth of July in Newton County.

Marshall's mother told Jones she doesn’t think Anderson made it that far on his own. She thinks someone helped him.

“Joshua Anderson and everybody who helped you, you’re going to get what’s coming to you,” Robbie Marshall said.

Deputies previously told Channel 2 Action News that Anderson started a fight with Marshall  on the Fourth of July on Northlake Drive.

Investigators said Anderson then got in his truck and ran the 20-year-old over as he walked home. Anderson left the scene and went on the run. U.S. Marshalls captured him five days later.

Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown didn't get any details surrounding the arrest, but he said reliable tips from the community helped locate Anderson.

Robbie Marshall wants anyone who helped Anderson evade capture to face stiff punishment.

“It's imperative, I repeat, it is imperative that justice be served to Joshua and all parties involved to the highest extent for taking my son's life," she said.

District Attorney Lala Zon called Kevin Marshall’s death horrific and inhumane. The sheriff’s office said more charges could be filed in the case.

“He will get justice in this case,” Zon said.

The sheriff's office told Jones the process is underway to transport Anderson back to Newton County. Anderson's girlfriend, whose family reported her missing, was also found in New York.

Deputies would not say if she was with Anderson when he was arrested.
