COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County jury has found Garrett Anderson guilty of two counts of homicide for causing the deaths of Reina As-Salaam, 15, and Juliana Ferrell, 16, in May 2014.
Police say Anderson called a locksmith to unlock his car. Tansu Kanlica, 27, was the responding locksmith.
Warrants say once Kanlica opened up Anderson's car, Anderson drove off and Kanlica followed.
Reports say Anderson suddenly stopped, sending Kanlica off the road and into the path of As-Salaam and Ferrell.
Police say the girls were walking to a nearby movie theater.
Kanlica pleaded guilty to charges and was sentenced to a 20 year sentence. He testified in Anderson's trial, and placed the blame on Anderson.
Channel 2's Matt Belanger was there when the jury convicted Anderson on homicide charges. He'll have a full report on the Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat at 11.
