ATLANTA, Ga. — The Fulton County Medical Examiner has identified a man gunned down in the middle of a southwest Atlanta road Saturday morning.
Homicide detectives have not released a description of the two men who might be linked to the death, but they've identified the victim as Antoniyo Wiggins, 35, of Atlanta. Atlanta police said the shooting happened around 8 a.m. in the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, off Interstate 285.
Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach spoke to Jerome Scott, an eyewitness at the scene, who saw someone chasing the victim out of the woods onto Martin Luther King Drive.
“The guy was running through the path; somebody was chasing him. The (shooter) apparently missed him the first time and then (we) heard another shot. Then, the guy fell in the middle of the street and then (the other) guy just stood there and shot him about six times. He just kept shooting him,” Scott said.
Scott said the suspect ran toward an apartment complex near the wooded path.
The shooting does not appear to be random, based on evidence gathered so far, detectives said.
