Officers said a Black man wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt, tan pants, black tennis shoes and a black ski mask walked around the building from the direction of Buena Vista Avenue and then walked into the building.
He then pointed to a black handgun and told employees to open the register.
One of them complied, putting all the cash in a Waffle House to-go bag and handing it to the robber, according to authorities.
The robber, who has not been identified, then told employees, “God bless you. I did not want to hurt anyone,” according to the report.
He then ran out the door and “fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.”
Officers said they believe the man got into a getaway vehicle and drove over the Savannah River bridge into Georgia.
Police have not released the man’s identity.
