Man says employee from booting company pointed gun at him

ATLANTA — A man tells Channel 2 Action News he feared for his life after an employee of a booting company pointed a gun at him during a parking dispute.

The man reached out to Channel 2's Michael Seiden after seeing our story about another employee who shot a man in the leg on Thanksgiving.

This incident happened in February of 2017, but tonight, we are getting an exclusive look.

“It’s embarrassing to say the least," said Jarren Wood.

Wood said he left a Buckhead bar to help a friend pay for parking when he saw someone putting a boot on her car.

“I got loud, but I wasn’t threatening him in any way physically and that’s when he threatened if I came any closer there would be problems," he explained.

TRENDING STORIES:

Wood said he paid to have the boot removed but when the parking attendant got back into his vehicle, he said he threw the car in reverse.

“I was a little inebriated and couldn’t get out of the way and he hit me and knocked me on my butt," he said.

Angry, but uninjured, Wood said he ran toward the attendant's car.

"At no point was I trying to be physically combative with him, and he flashed his pistol at me," Wood said.

Wood called police and officers arrested and charged the armed employee with a felony.

Seiden checked Fulton County court records and found out that he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor earlier this year

“We know that there are many other instances where people have been threatened by guns, knives and other instruments over parking fees," said Atlanta attorney Matt Wetherington.

Wetherington is representing  27-year-old Matt Stevens, who is now recovering at home after police said an employee of Empire Parking Services shot him in the leg during an argument on Thanksgiving Day.

Seiden was the only reporter to speak with him about the incident.

"You shot somebody. How can you just shoot somebody and you're not in jail?" Wetherington said.
