CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News spoke to neighbors who said a woman came to their door after being shot by her son 10 times.
Those neighbors said they couldn't believe it when they opened their door and the victim told them she was shot, and that it was her son who did it.
Channel 2's Tom Jones was at the Clayton County court, where the son of Terri Lynn Dawson denied the accusations.
Twenty-year-old Anthony Lyons told the judge there was no proof he shot his mother. He faces aggravated assault charges for allegedly shooting Dawson, who is in critical condition.
The judge then read evidence police said proves Lyons shot his mother at the Central Park Apartments where they live.
Officers said Dawson also told them Lyons shot her.
"She just came to my door and said she had been shot," said Angela Hobbs, one of the neighbors who helped Dawson minutes after she was shot Saturday night.
"She just said, 'My son shot me. Call 911,'" recalls Hobbs.
Police have not released a motive in the shooting. They said Lyons took off in his mother's car, but later turned himself in.
Neighbors said they are happy Lyons is off the streets and are pulling for Dawson to pull through and trying to get the thought of seeing someone with so many gunshot wounds out of their minds.
"I never seen nothing like this happen, and close to home," Hobbs said.
Authorities said Dawson is in critical but stable condition.
Lyons is being held in jail without bond.
