Man shot to death after confrontation, wreck on Georgia highway, police say

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — Police have arrested two people after a man was found shot to death near the sight of a wreck in Monroe County.

Police found Michael High, 35, dead of a gunshot wound on Highway 42 in Monroe County around 12:38 a.m. Sunday. Two vehicles at the scene were wrecked.

Police said High’s girlfriend, 26-year-old Cierra Bell, had an argument in their car after Bell went gambling with another man in Oglethorpe. Bell got out of the car.

That man she had been with, 38-year-old Wendell Scott, found her walking on the side of the road towards Forsyth County. When he rolled down his window to talk to her, High plowed into his car and crashed into a ditch.

High got out of the car and walked toward Scott “aggressively.” Scott shot High.

Bell and Scott are in jail awaiting charges.

Police are still investigating the incident.
