FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — A man was found dead in a Georgia river after a boating incident that left crews searching for him over the weekend.

According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Game Wardens began an investigation of a possible drowning on Friday afternoon.
Officials began searching the Coosa River in Floyd County near the Old River Road boat ramp.
Authorities were looking for a 38-year-old man, later identified as John Wesley Perkins, of Temple, who had gone underwater and had not come back up.

Georgia DNR stated that Perkins and two other people were fishing when their bass boat began to take on water. All three attempted to swim to the bank, but only two were successful in getting out of the river.
Multiple law enforcement agencies searched the area and ran two DNR vessels all day without any success.
Officials suspended the search at 9 p.m. on Friday and resumed the search at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The Georgia State Patrol recovered Perkins’s body at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
