COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Mr. Emanuel Wilson is a semi-celebrity in his neighborhood. His birthday this week proved that.
Wilson turned 102 Monday, and the whole community came out to celebrate. He knows a lot of people in the area, he’s been there since 1946.
The World War II U.S. Air Force veteran’s yard was decorated with signs celebrating the milestone.
The Marietta police went to his home and sang “Happy Birthday” to him. The department posted Facebook video of the celebration. He thanked the officers who sang to him and told them he hoped to see them next year.
Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach lives next to Wilson and says he sees him working on his yard and he still drives his minivan.
Happy 1️⃣0️⃣2️⃣nd Birthday to my neighbor Mr. Wilson. Still lives alone, still see him out doing yard work, and still driving his minivan (that he bought new at age 99) pic.twitter.com/bYBzToQrjv
