Marietta police searching for driver who killed construction worker on I-75

Volkswagen hit and run Police are searching for a car like this involved in hit and run of construction worker.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities say a construction worker was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 75 in Cobb County Saturday night.

Marietta police say 30-year-old Martin Rivera, of Chicago, was placing sign on the shoulder of I-75 N just north of the Delk Road interchange around 8:55 p.m. when he was hit by a black Volkswagen Golf GTI. That impact knocked Rivera into the path of a second vehicle.

The driver of the Volkswagen did not stop to help and drove away, police say. The driver of the second vehicle stopped and is cooperating with authorities.

Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators need the public’s help locating the Volkswagen and the driver. It was last seen abruptly exiting I-75 northbound onto the South Marietta Parkway exit ramps.
