PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. — A DeKalb County Marine recruit died on Tuesday at a recruiting post in South Carolina.
The U.S. Marine Corps confirmed Private First Class Noah Evans’ death Wednesday night. The 21-year-old from Decatur was assigned to the Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment.

Officials said Evans was doing a physical fitness test at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. when he died. His cause of death is under investigation.
“Our deepest condolences go out to Noah’s family and to the Marines and staff of Mike Company,” the depot said in a statement.
