Man shot multiple times after argument on MARTA bus, Atlanta police say

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a shooting in downtown Atlanta that left some MARTA bus routes impacted Friday morning.

NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene on Alabama Street and spotted crime scene tape and several police cars near the Five Points MARTA station.

MARTA police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that the shooting did not take place on MARTA property. However, the investigation caused some bus routes to be re-routed.

“We apologize for the inconvenience,” MARTA said in a statement.

Channel 2′s Bryan Mims learned from police that the shooting happened after an argument on a MARTA bus. Police say after the two men got off the bus, one of them opened fire and shot the other.

The shooting victim was sent to the hospital in critical condition but is now stable, according to police.

Investigators say they are checking surveillance video to identify the shooter.

“It gives me cause for concern, because you know, this is a high-traffic area and bullets don’t have names,” Keenan said.
