MARTA schedule changes for New Years

ATLANTA — MARTA has made changes to their service schedule for the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day holidays. On New Year’s Eve, MARTA will run a weekday schedule with extra rail service; however, the bus service will operate on a modified Saturday schedule.

MARTA posted the following information on their website:

On New Year's Eve, MARTA will run a weekday schedule with extra rail service as needed to get customers to and from events. The last trains on New Year's Eve for the Red, Gold and Blue lines will leave from Five Points Station at approximately 2 a.m. On the Red and Gold Lines, trains will run approximately every 12 minutes throughout the day to end of service, with both lines running continuously from North Springs and Doraville Stations south to the Airport.

The Red Line will not turn back at Lindbergh Center Station during the evening, with about six- minute train frequencies on the Red and Gold Lines from Lindbergh Center Station to Airport until the end of revenue service.

On the Blue and Green Lines, trains will run approximately every 12 minutes throughout the day to the end of service, with the Blue Line running continuously from Hamilton E. Holmes Station to Indian Creek Station and the Green Line running continuously from Bankhead Station to Candler Park Station.

The Green Line will not turn back at Vine City during the evening, with six-minute train frequencies on the Blue and Green Lines from Ashby Station to Edgewood/Candler Park until the end of revenue service.

Customers with smartphones are encouraged to download MARTA's "On The Go" app from iTunes or Google Play to track bus and rail arrivals in real-time.

MARTA bus service will be operating on a modified Saturday schedule on New Year's Eve, using the schedule for normal Saturday bus service. In addition, routes 24, 143 and 148, which do not normally operate on the weekend, will operate on their weekday schedules on New Year's Eve. Customers can go tohttp://bit.ly/1Cz9GY2, click on their bus route, choose a corresponding schedule – such as weekday, Saturday, Sunday or Holiday – and plan their trips accordingly.

Bus and rail services will operate a Sunday/Holiday schedule on New Year's Day.

Due to the large crowds that are expected during the weekend, customers are advised to purchase a round-trip fare at the beginning of their trip to avoid long lines on the return. Customers may purchase a round-trip Breeze pass for only $2.50 each way plus a $1 charge for a permanent Breeze card, using cash or credit/debit cards. Remember, one Breeze card per person, and customers must tap their cards to enter and exit stations.
