A woman says masked robbers forced their way into her home and held her at gunpoint in southwest Atlanta.
The victim told Atlanta police she thought it was her boyfriend who knocked on her door late Tuesday night. Instead, several men wearing ski masks burst into her home asking for her boyfriend, police said.
ATLANTA — The 56-year-old woman told Channel 2 Action News one man pushed her to the ground and kept a gun pointed at her while the others stole everything of value from the apartment at the Cascade Glen complex on Campbellton Road.
It took a few minutes for robbers to steal TVs, cash and an expensive keyboard from the apartment, the victim said.
The woman told us it took the men three trips to remove all of the items from the apartment.
Those who know the victim were shocked by the incident.
"That someone would run up into a family's home like that, it's sad," said neighbor Marquis Lee.
Channel 2’s Audrey Washington went to the leasing office at the complex to ask about security, but was told management was not available.
Lee said more should be done about security in the complex.
“This is already a high-crime area, so definitely they need more security and hopefully this will be a lesson to them that they need to do something about it,” he said.
Police are continuing to search the apartment for evidence.
